About Us

Prairie State Tree Farm was established in 1981. We are a member of the American Tree Farm system and certified with the State of Illinois as Tree Farm #715, practicing sound forest management. In 1983 we expanded our vision and began planting our first Christmas trees. The first plantings matured and were ready as “cut your own” trees in 1990. We offered White Pine and three varieties of Scotch Pine . In 1992 we expanded and added handmade Christmas wreaths. The wreaths are made from greens grown on our Farm. Requests from our customers has added White Pine garland / roping as well as new tree species to our selections: Douglas Fir, Concolor Fir, Norway Spruce, Grand Fir, and Serbian Spruce. Prairie State Tree Farm now also offers ball and burlap trees for transplant as ornamentals for your landscape needs. Our new 24” tree spade gives us the ability to dig trees that average up to 8 feet in height in addition to smaller hand dug trees. We also have smaller un-sheared White Pine available for windbreak planting. Need Pine logs for that rustic look in your landscape? Call!
